SARMAAN — Sokoto Annual Routine Mass Administration of Azithromycin — is Sokoto State's flagship preventive health campaign targeting children aged 1–59 months across all 23 Local Government Areas.
The campaign delivers Mass Drug Administration (MDA), a WHO-endorsed strategy for the control of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and reduction of childhood mortality through the annual distribution of anthelmintics and azithromycin at the community level.
Field teams conduct household visits and capture treatment data via the Comcare mobile tool. This platform aggregates, validates and visualises that data in real time, supporting programme managers to track coverage against the WHO threshold of ≥ 80%.
